Passon will present on how to effectively craft a mitigation story at the Advancing Real Change (ARC)
Mitigation investigation is a powerful tool for those seeking to disrupt the dehumanizing narratives often seen in the criminal justice system. The Baltimore Mitigation Training Series provides participants with key skills and techniques needed to conduct such an investigation effectively. The main workshop will be a three-day training led by nationally recognized faculty with a heavy emphasis on issues related to trauma and mental health. Confirmed faculty for the main program include Doug Passon, Fred Sautter, John Bessler, Pamela Leonard, Allison Redlich, Ed Ungvarsky, Joette James, Barb Picciano Caranci, Chris Chang, and ARC, Inc.’s own Elizabeth Vartkessian and Katherine Atkins. The main program is capped at 300 participants.
Because this is a deeper dive into such topics, we are also offering an afternoon session geared towards the foundational aspects of mitigation on the Thursday prior to the main program. The Mitigation 101 will be led by ARC, Inc. staff and its Mitigator in Residence, Christopher Chang of 255 Research and Investigation. As of March 1, 2019, Mitigation 101 is at capacity for registrations, but you can still be added to the waitlist.
Registration for both the main program and Mitigation 101 is free of charge. We have arranged for a group rate at nearby Candlewood Suites (101 N. Charles Street). Please indicate on your registration form if you would like to receive instructions to register under the group rate.
